Informed by past national test questions, Measuring Success in Maths offers a flexible mix of both mental and written tests that can be used across Key Stages 1 and 2. The test content has been arranged to align with the blocks of the revised Primary Framework and because the tests are differentiated, results can support teachers in the new Assessing Pupil Progress (APP) initiative, as well as track whole class progress.

Initial tests for pupils in Year 1 are Task based. As pupils progress through the year, Mental and Written tests are introduced that reflect their increasing capability and these continue into Year 2. For Years 3 to 7 there are three of both Mental and Written tests for each block of the revised Framework. This comprehensive approach enables teachers to monitor progress at different points in the school year and provides evidence to support teacher assessment as part of APP and at the end of Key Stages 1 and 2.
