System requirements

Before installing the Dyslexia Screener, you should make sure the computer on which you wish to run the program conforms to the following basic specification.

One method of checking the specification of your computer is to go to the ‘My Computer’ icon. Right click on the icon and a menu will pop up. Select ‘Properties’ from the menu. This will open the ‘System Properties’ window. The first tab of this window is called ‘General’ and lists the properties of your computer.

• A Pentium 3® system with at least 128 megabytes (MB) of random access memory (RAM), 120 MB of free hard drive space, Windows® 98, 2000 or XP.
• Your system will require a properly configured sound card so that users will have access to the spoken instructions.
• In addition, your system will require Adobe Acrobat Reader® to read the reports. You can obtain a copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader from www.adobe.com if you do not have one.
• As the user interacts with the Screener via the mouse, it is essential that the mouse used is clean and in good working order.
